Testimonials

I feel so lucky to have met Kim during my time in Oregon. We have worked together on large digital magazine projects and intimate family projects. She is an amazing photographer only to be surpassed by being an amazing person! She rises to every occasion to meet the deadline and gets the job done with beautiful photos that make it all look easy. She has the perfect professional persona to handle the most delicate client situations. I would trust any project of budget, size or magnitude to Kim. She is a super talented (and humble) gem!

Kim is a fantastic photographer and has a creative eye for details. With very little direction, she knows where she needs to be and has the ability to ask the right questions to get the best shots and never misses an opportunity. I've hired Kim for two events: a corporate meeting / party with 250 guests and a large charity event at an outlet mall where over 900 ticketed guests were in attendance, plus the normal weekend crowd of shoppers. At both events, her work was outstanding and I never worried that she would miss a shot - she was on top of it before I was! She's organized, reliable and very easy to work with. She makes everyone feel at ease and is not shy to ask her subjects to pose for the best shots! Kim seems to have boundless energy and has a true passion for what she does. I'm so happy to have found Kim and would definitely recommend her for both small gatherings and large corporate and charity events.

I first came to love Kim as a simple artist selling her art at Portland Saturday Market. I was a fledgling Promotional Coordinator with a vision and no tools and she, a photographer with a camera and an eye that can see through to the soul. Kim and I collaborated on a couple photo shoots for the Portland Saturday Markets advertising campaigns utilizing vendors and their products. I later hired Kim to be one of the official photographers for the Red Dress Party. She is of course, professional, intelligent, and hard working but, that’s to be expected. Kim’s ability to stand out from the pack is in her passion which is unparalleled. Her curiosity for the world engages her to explore every possible angle. She has an uncanny ability to bringing a viewer into the moment, whether she is photographing a kiss or a blossom on a tree. Lastly, she goes out of her way to make people happy.

For the past 10 years, working with Kim Nguyen as the main photographer for El Centinela, spanish newspaper of the Archdiocese of Portland, I’ve been able to cover many events that are part of the life and reality of the immigrant community in the state of Oregon. Kim is a professional that knows how to be in the right moment and capture with her camera the feelings that make reality possible in a journalist report. For me as an editor of this publication, her contribution in the print and online edition had been a key in the coverage of the events. We worked so close with Kim that I don’t have to be worry about the quality of the images. Every task had been cover in the right moment and the material had been in the newsroom just on time to every single deadline. Working with Kim is a pleasure. She is truly a great professional!

From the touching photo that showed the commitment of newly ordained priests to that heartbreaking close-up of a homeless toddler, asleep on the floor in a Manilla train depot, Kim always delivered more than we expected at the Catholic Sentinel Newspaper. She's that rare mix of a consummate professional and inspired artist. She not only meets deadlines but also opens up new ways of seeing through her work, which can be beautiful or compelling, but always meaningful. I worked with Kim for nearly a decade at the newspaper, writing articles to go with her photos. Those photos always shone, and I can honestly say that working with her was always - always! - a pleasure.

Kim's style of photography is both artistic and one that puts you at ease. She see things through her lens that others don't see, and thus captures moments that are both "forgettable" and "unforgettable" = the "unforgettable moments she captures make you laugh and make you forever smile. :) Working with Photosbykim is so much fun. Her photos are simply put "amazing" Her passion for what she does is truly evident in her work. Love an thoughtfulness goes into every shoot. Love or Hate? Love! Duh!
